Since I decided to entirely ignore my work this semester (was gonna fail anyway), my sleep schedule has been... well, not good, but closer to an early-riser than a late one — winter sure is a time to wake up early, feels like I woke up in the evening! Before, I'd be staying up for 4am Baldesion Arsenal, now I'm waking up for it — not even like, on purpose half the time, there just happens to be a lot of open BA runs, though it does somewhat feel like I am waking up earlier on BA days... Can you tell I woke up at 2am, and now I'm waiting in a BA party? They're being silly in VC, it's great XD

Anyway, also decided I'll try and look every now and then at CozyTalk. My profile (Eurys) is based after my WoL, aha. She's so cute!

Feels like 31°C at 7:30 a.m.

Feels like 38°C at 10:00 a.m.

There's supposed to be a thunderstorm later and then more thunderstorms tomorrow so we'll see if that brings the temperatures down, but we're also supposed to go to the farmer's market later. Oof.

Next Monday, forecasted temperature high is 19°C. That's the midwest!

Last night as I was prepping my breakfast for the next morning--getting the rice in the rice cooker to sit overnight, cooking the salmon, etc--I realized that I couldn't do my normal salad for lunch since we didn't have any lettuce or spinach or anything, since sashagee used it all last week to make a giant dinner salad to stop it the CSA greens from going bad like they had the previous year. So I opened up the work food app to check what the pop-up restaurant was going to be the next day to see if it was worth just ordering that, and I was happily surprised to see Teranga was listed. Terangais a Senegalese restaurant that's up by where we live and I've been meaning to go for a while, so this was the perfect opportunity.


Tilapia filet with peppers and onions, with a bit of spicy sauce, jollof rice, and an extra--fried plantains, which I hadn't originally ordered but when I got up there the guy told me that I got to pick and extra side. I mentioned that I lived nearby the actual restaurant and I'm glad they were there so I could try it, he gave me some spicy sauce, and it took it back to the AMA part of the building to eat.

It was delicious. The sides were actually the best part--the fried tilapia was tilapia, and as the culinary advice I've seen goes, tilapia "takes on the flavors of what it's served with" meaning it's tasteless. The spicy sauce helped a lot with that, though it was pretty spicy with a slow-heat spice. The jollof rice was flavorful and a bit spicy itself. I did notice that the Teranga menu had a lot of fish on it, though, so I'd love to try again at the actual restaurant. Definitely going again if they come back.

Did some training of a new employee today. We're working on a specific project that isn't really like the other projects--there's a lot of redundant data that we're just skipping past, so we had some time to chat. It turns out she watches anime...just only Solo Leveling and Kaijū No. 8. Not what I would have expected for a woman in her 30s. Solo Leveling has never interested me in the slightest but Kaijū No. 8 did look kind of neat. If only I had time to actually watch much of anything.

A-Ying just told me that, while they don't remember a lot of maths (specifically in relation to algebra), they remember everything I taught them 5 years ago in the hour before one of our exams. I'm genuinely tearing up, because while it's easy to say we've made huge impacts on each other, it's the small stuff — the unexpected parts — where it feels tangible. She's one of the most important people in my life, I love feeling important to her too.

Unrelated and unfortunately negative, but today I got mocked in FFXIV by one player for giving advice late, and then for giving advice at all. It was persistent and frustrating enough that I blocked and reported them after. If they'd left it at their first (still rude) comment, I wouldn't have thought much of it, but seriously, is it that hard to shut up? With how badly the first boss went by various metrics, clearly that person helped even less than I did, even if only by virtue of me being a healer and them being a tank. If what they wanted was for me to not give advice, it would've been as easy as "I/We want to do this blind" or "I want to see people die, it's funny". EASY, SIMPLE, NEUTRAL/AMUSING. I'm absolutely happy to have a wipe happen in normal content if I think it'll be fun(ny) and nobody's asked for help yet, but I was in a helping mood during that run. Pondscum just loveeee talking shit for no reason, ISTG.

I pushed an update to my Final Fantasy Recaps Neocities site a few days ago. The biggest update was changing things so that instead of "Jump to" links and one l-o-n-g scrolling page of text, I added accordions for sections. That breaks it down into more manageable pieces so it's less intimidating.

I also finished documenting the Bastok Missions from Final Fantasy XI! \o/ It's nice to have something completely done.

I wanted to work on Windurst missions last night, but the mission my low-level alt is on can't be soloed unless you are a MUCH higher level. I'm thinking I might try to be brave and yell for help with it - just need someone who has a portal charm! - but yelling, frankly, scares me these days.

I was not brave enough last night, so I logged off and dug out my notes from Final Fantasy Brave Exvius:

Present me is REALLY IMPRESSED with past me for putting in all that work! I did the bulk of this when I didn't have a computer of my own, hence handwriting it out. I don't have everything written, because I started the documentation project after story events had already played and they weren't ever repeated, BUT I found a site that has a lot of the story events as YouTube videos. So I can transcribe the missing ones from others' videos, and type up the ones I have documented already. Gonna take FOREVER, but I am determined.

I started typing up Lasswell's short story last night, and gods did I miss these characters. They are delightful and fun, and it's been neat to revisit the story and smile again.

I checked out my site from my phone, and frowned at how small the text is. I need to see about fixing that eventually. I also want to do another section of Shadowbringers soon, and continue working on FFXI. LOTS TO DO.

Finally, I became a Neocities Supporter this morning. Mostly for the yummy stats, but also... well, I'm obviously having fun with the site, might as well give them some money. I do believe in supporting others' works monetarily, if you can afford it. At $5 a month? Yeah, I can afford that.

Just a little life update... I want to experiment with picking a day to blogpost no matter what (I've kind of settled on Friday, maybe) but in the meantime, I thought I'd try to make a bit more of a positive post..?

In an attempt to find something that brings me joy again, I'm getting back into webdev. My current project is a Baba Is You fanlisting! This is the layout I have so far, which is basically almost done:



There's other stuff I'm working on, but that's all I really want to talk about right now. I miss making things a lot. I also haven't drawn or written in a bit (I was taking a break on purpose) and there are other creative endeavors I'm contemplating... I'm hoping that German classes ending soon will free up time to do stuff.

We're seeing the Backrooms movie in two weeks and I'm looking forward to it! They're playing it in English at one of the nearby theater. We also saw Project Hail Mary last month. I'd really like to go see movies more regularly. I'm also going to get back into comic stuff soon.

I am surviving. Everything is kind of in hurry-up-and-wait mode. I am so tired of phone calls.

Currently I'm trying to make my old bedroom into a welcoming space. I don't think anyone has vacuumed or dusted in here since I moved out 14 years ago.

In my plans for the weekend that didn't happen, I was supposed to renew my DW account. At this point I don't even know where my card is for that. In my work bag? Which is? Hopefully at my place somewhere.

Anyway, could someone kindly float me a bit of DW paid time til I can find my own arse without a flashlight and map? Thank you. ;_; Truly.

Yesterday I made apple pie for the first time! Needs improvements, but I'll be doing more tests with other fruits as well in the upcoming week. Will prep dough today, might do a test with cherries too? Or will wait until another day.

My sleep schedule is also the most normal it's been in a while. Waking up early for Baldesion Arsenal is making things almost good lol.

Gotta get through my reading page properly today though... skimmed but put off commenting, sigh.
