FFXIV 7.0 Announcement: Dawntrail!

I will put story spoilers under a cut. This is from memory so excuse any typos in names:

Story Spoilers!

* The theme is "Summer Vacation", and we will be going to what's been known as the "New World".
* The major hub city is ruled by the Mamool Ja.
* The story is thus: we are to help determine the next ruler by means of a contest.
* The Scions WILL be involved, but it sounds like they will be divided into two teams, and one team may be working against the WoL.
* There is a forest village accessible via dirigible over the mountains.
* A new Allied Tribe, the Peruperu, that look like the Tobli from X-2.
* Two new jobs, both DPS: one melee, one magical ranged caster.

Other big news:

* The game is coming to Xbox! Beta will be open in Spring 2024.
* There IS a system requirement upgrade for Windows users, but my friends tell me it's not too bad.
* Mac system requirement upgrade coming later.
* Yes, PS4 will be supported for 7.0.
* The free trial is now being expanded to include the entirety of Stormblood
* There's a crossover with Fall Guys, and that is the new Gold Saucer content coming.

I thought of you immediately when someone linked me to the FF Wiki article about Tobli (I have yet to play X-2 through completion). FFXIV does do a lot of borrowing from the previous FF games, but I love how they figure out a way to make it fit into XIV's overall story. They do a very good job of paying homage while also making something unique.
