SO EXCITED! I didn’t scream but I thrust my fist in the air triumphantly when the music started playing...and rapped my knuckles on the dresser, oops.
VIII was my second Final Fantasy game, and for years it was my favorite game of all time. That’s no longer the case, but it still holds a very special place in my heart, and yes, I still have a crush on Squall even after all these years. Looking forward to playing it again!
I haven't replayed VIII in aeons, and I heartily attribute at least part of that to the pixelation style they used for it, so this is a pleasant surprise ahahaha ~
I'm looking forward to marching Squall around stabbing things and devouring them again, yeeeessss }3~
I wonder how much they had to build from the ground up, or if the "lost the source" that's been circulating for years now was a cover while they tried to depixel everything --
Coming across this completely made my day. I'd basically resigned myself to never seeing a remastered version, given that I'd seen that circulated "lost the source" rumor and what company was going to build a game again from the ground up (especially since I feel that FF8 is less popular? even though it's my favorite of the FF games) when they have easier options to make money.
I AM SO HAPPY. :D :D :D :D And it's coming to the Switch, which is fucking delightful, because I'd like to be able to port it around. (Although, this also means I need to get my hands on a PS4, which I've been hesitating about. I figured I'd finally get one when the FF7 remake dropped, but I guess I need it for the FF8 remaster instead. OHWELL.)
It wouldn't be the first time for Squenix to have to do a rebuild; that's what they had to do with the first Kingdom Hearts when they started upscaling those to HD. *lol Squenix* if they could lose those assets, they could totally have tossed VIII's --
