Some small news on FFXVI

A bit of Final Fantasy XVI news leaked out during Friday night's "Letter from the Producer LIVE" for Final Fantasy XIV: Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, who has been translating Final Fantasy XIV for quite some time now, is also now working on the translation for Final Fantasy XVI.

Along with being one of the translators at last year's Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest, Koji Fox has also written the lyrics to the some of the most beloved songs from XIV, including To the Edge.

I'm pretty excited about this, to be honest! The English translation of FFXIV is FANTASTIC, and I know it's not all Koji Fox's work but I think he has a big hand with it. And I have mad respect for the man for not losing his cool when he was translating for Soken-san and Yoshi-P at FFXIV's digital Fan Fest last year (Soken-san was revealing he had been fighting cancer, and both Soken-san and Yoshi-P were very emotional but Koji Fox translated with grace and didn't break down himself.)

I'm so glad there are folks who are on top of news like this, because I'm the type who will forget and hear about it 6 months after the fact. Thanks for the in depth updates!

You're welcome! I set up a Google News alert for FFXVI about a month ago, so I get a daily digest of news about it. Normally it's just "more news expected this spring" or about one of the other games but occasionally some tidbit pops up.

They really do just have the majority of the FFXIV team on this, huh. My opinion on FF14's localization is a little more mixed... I hope he and his team will carry some conscientiousness in working on FF16. The setting and story certainly suit his style of writing though.
