THAT'S RIGHT, the new trailer for FFXVI dropped this morning, and for once I was the last of my friend group to hear of it. Here's the link:

I remain excited about this game, and hope I get the money soon to buy a PS5 so I can play the game at launch. Would love to hear your thoughts on the trailer!

I'm utterly bored today because FFXIV is down for 24 hour maintenance, so I figured I might as well make a post about various FFXVI news that came out recently. When the initial trailer dropped, I set up a Google alert so I get news emailed to me daily.

Gonna put it under a cut for those that prefer not to read anything about the game.

That's it for now! I'll post again if any good news comes out. Apparently FFXVI is going to be on the July 11th cover of Famitsu so we could get more information then!

The Sony State of Play just ended, and the last trailer shown was a new one with gameplay footage for FFXVI, ending with the words "Summer 2023".

KupoCon has also announced a launch tour that summer.

I am trying to find the video for the trailer, will edit this post once I've found it!

A bit of Final Fantasy XVI news leaked out during Friday night's "Letter from the Producer LIVE" for Final Fantasy XIV: Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, who has been translating Final Fantasy XIV for quite some time now, is also now working on the translation for Final Fantasy XVI.

Along with being one of the translators at last year's Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest, Koji Fox has also written the lyrics to the some of the most beloved songs from XIV, including To the Edge.

I'm pretty excited about this, to be honest! The English translation of FFXIV is FANTASTIC, and I know it's not all Koji Fox's work but I think he has a big hand with it. And I have mad respect for the man for not losing his cool when he was translating for Soken-san and Yoshi-P at FFXIV's digital Fan Fest last year (Soken-san was revealing he had been fighting cancer, and both Soken-san and Yoshi-P were very emotional but Koji Fox translated with grace and didn't break down himself.)

Yoshi-P posted on the various official FFXVI channels today to apologize for not having any more news to share this year, but promising the next news drop will come this Spring.

Alas, there's been some delays in development due to COVID-19, but to my ears, this list of tasks?

* Increasing graphic resource quality
* Refining combat mechanics
* Fleshing out individual battles
* Putting the finishing touches on cutscenes
* Conducting overall graphical optimization

That, to me, sounds like they are pretty far along in spite of delays.

Someone of Twitter said that the next promised big news drop was supposed to come right before pre-orders open; I don't recall hearing this myself but I could see that happening if the game is as far enough as I think it is.

Anyone else still looking forward to this game?
